TravelBytes: A Singapore/Malaysia Food Adventure

29th September 2015

Let me take you on a journey of tastebud tingling excitement. Come with me to salivate over but a handful of what I could fit in during my short trip back to Singapore & Malaysia a few weeks ago. It’s been 6 years since I was there last. Although I was born and grew up in England, I spent 5 years of my teenage life living in Malaysia and schooling in Singapore. The majority of my extended family also lives in these 2 countries. So it wasn’t so much of a holiday but rather a major catch up with family…

The “Love/Hate” Tag

8th September 2015
lovehate

What do you love? And what do you hate? We’ve all got a couple of things that either grinds our gears or has us swooning for hours on end. Having been nominated by Liz ‘only’ 2 months ago, I’ve finally gotten round to seeing if I can come up with a compact list of 10 loves and 10 hates. ‘Better late than never’ should be my personal tagline! So, in no particular order… LOVES 1. Sunday afternoon naps I crave those weekend moments when you can block out the world and slumber away on the couch. On the rare occasion…

TravelBytes: Summer Weekend in Brussels

6th September 2015
Brusselsfeatured

Is it possible to soak up a city in a fleeting 1 night/weekend away? I’d say you can definitely have a jolly good crack at it. A few weeks ago hubby and I ended up with one of those rare weekends when both of us are entirely free of work or other commitments. The original plan was to head up to Alton Towers to enjoy what British Summertime we could mid-August and then stay over for a day of walking in the Peak District. But with the anticipation of dismal weather we decided on a last minute city break to…

Hands up who’s a Great British Bake Off fanatic? Oh, me, me, meeeee! So considering how much of a general baking fanatic I am as well, I’m rather surprised that I’ve never tried the whole ‘Bake with Bake Off’ thing. Thing is, I’m good at the things I know really well, but I don’t often adventure out of my ‘safe zone’. Hence why this year I’ve decided to experiment more and have a go at some of the challenges on the show that I’ve never tried before myself. Last Wednesday’s episode was all about biscuits, with one of the requirements…

Birchbox August 2015 Review

17th August 2015
birchboxaugfeatured

Oh hello Birchbox, I’ve finally subscribed to you! After a bit of uncertainty about the whole box subscription thing I took a leap of faith when I saw Liz subscribe to the Happy Paper Club. It probably helped that this month’s box was themed with emojis and I love a good emoji. Now here’s a confession. I’m not a beauty junkie in any shape or form. No really, I promise! I have a small collection of makeup and pamper products that either get used until they dry up, run out or go out of date and my mother in law…

Failure? Says who?

10th August 2015

Just over a week ago now I failed 2 exams. Not just the 1 I figured would give me some trouble, but the 1 I thought I’d cope with too. To put them into context, they’re exams 10 and 11 out of 16 I have to take to become a qualified chartered accountant and it’s the first time I’ve failed. Queue the middle-of-Sainsburys-chocolate-binge-buy-tear-streaming-call to hubby. Then breathe. Then reassess. Failure does not mean game over. Failure does not mean you can give up. Failure does not define you. I’ve had lots of ‘failure’ over my life and it’s taken a…
