Lumiere London 2016

16th January 2016

Who doesn’t like looking a pretty lights, even if you gotta be out in the 4 degree cold? (Readers from Scotland, colder parts of Europe and anywhere else that might mock me for my meekness, I fully accept my inability to cope with the cold!) From 14th January until this Sunday 17th January, Lumiere London brings a spectacular showcase of light inspired art and intrigue. The festival of light is located at 4 sites across London. I had an hour to kill before meeting Liz for a late night play near Kings Cross, so I thought I’d try and see…

Super Sinful Oreo Fudge

8th January 2016
OreoFudgefeatured

Coming from a person who has a super sweet tooth, even I could only handle this fudge in small doses. You’ve been warned! But saying that, just a little piece is so, so satisfying. For the Brits reading this, it’s not really fudge in the sense of Cornish clotted cream type fudge. It’s well, it’s hard to describe but certainly in the realm of melt in your mouth dreamy! I must have had fudge on my brain for a while. Possibly a post-Christmas thing, but I’ve been wanting to make something fudge-like forever. This is also really easy to make…

Sunrise on a New Year

1st January 2016

Happy 2016! NB: This is a photo heavy post. Since we’d had a quieter night in the night before, I’d somehow managed to convince hubby to take me out early this morning to watch the first sunrise of the year. Seeing as we live in South London, finding a good east facing hill not more than 30 minutes drive away almost proved too much! But Reigate Hill came to the rescue. Now all we had to do was to get a good 5hrs sleep and wake up fresh at 6:15am! Urgh… Well we did it! Armed with thermals and walking…

Acknowledge the past and that fresh start feeling

31st December 2015

It’s not quite 7pm, I’ve got dinner simmering away on the stove and my husband is reading a book with his feet propped up on my lap whilst I type this post. This is how we’re rocking new year’s eve this year in the Griffin household since I’ve been rather sickly with a cold and exhaustion the last 5 days or so. We went for a quick scamper in the woods in this morning (until it started raining, but then we were greeted by a beautiful rainbow) and in the morning we’ll be heading out early to try and catch…

Oh geez, Christmas is coming…

1st December 2015
santacupcakes

…and there’s no escape! Ok I promise I’m really not the bah humbug type. In fact, I actually love Christmas. But not when you’re popping to the loo in the middle of November and you have Cliff Richard being blasted at you from all 4 corners. (I won’t mention where this was because I truly pitied the already embarrassed looking staff who had to dress in full elf gear inclusive of red circular cheeks). But today is the first day of December and there are 24 days left until Christmas, so I’m sort of finally starting to get into the…

To the mothers to be as impatient as me

17th November 2015
motherstobe02

I never thought I’d be one of those highly obsessive women, scrutinising every single sign or twinge or… oh duck it, of course I was going to be! But after 5 months of trying including a month off in between because I was on holiday without the hubby, I’ve had a lot of time to reflect. I’ve met a lot of women (mostly online) in the same situation as me, all trying for their first, all just a little too obsessed and all in their 30s with their biological clocks (and multitude of family members) bugging them at the back…
